The sibsport team goes public

On Tuesday 17^th of June, following the completion of the latest BTCC rounds at Donington Park on the Sunday 15^th, the team sibsport website will offer fans an insight into the team from the comfort of their own computer.

Most of the individual team members will be profiled in the series.  The first two team members to appear will be sibsport’s owner/driver Simon Blanckley and Team Manager, Graham Hathaway.  Blanckley has become one of the characters of the BTCC, ever since he announced in March that he had sold his house to fund his dream of racing in the UK’s premier home-grown motorsport championship.  Hathaway meanwhile runs Graham Hathaway Engineering, a successful motorsport engineering firm and car manufacturer who also prepare and run the sibsport Honda Integra for each BTCC race.  Hathaway is a respected and well-known figure amongst the motorsport community, having been in the industry practically all his life.

Sibsport’s press officer Jon Bennett says: “The individuals within sibsport are so vital to the team’s success and we want to let the fans know more about who we really are.  We may not have the budget of the bigger teams in the pit lane but we have some extremely talented and interesting individuals, who really have helped us be as competitive as we are this season.

“Most fans probably won’t know much about team personalities, other than the figureheads – we want to change that.  After all, a team relies on every individual.  There are many interesting stories to tell - for example, our team members come to each race meeting from all over the country, from Devon to Durham. We want the fans to know that aside from being dedicated to the team’s cause, we are passionate fans ourselves and enjoy being in the BTCC, and when we get positive results, it’s really personal,” Bennett concludes.
