Blanckley in action at Brands

Monday 5th March 2007

Simon Blanckley today racked up some worthwhile mileage in his Honda Integra at Brands Hatch, scene of this year’s opening Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds on 1 April.

Durham-based Blanckley, running under the Sibsport banner, is making the step up to the BTCC after winning races in an ex-works David Leslie/Honda Accord Super Touring car in the Euro Saloons series.

The BTC-spec car is being prepared by ‘old hand’ Graham Hathaway’s engineering firm – Hathaway’s last involvement in the BTCC, in 1997, resulted in him running Robb Gravett to the Independents title.  Since then, his company has gone on to run the Global GT Lights series and recently launched their own GTS for the Sports 2000 championship.

Blanckley and his team sibsport will join the rest of the BTCC field next Tuesday 13 March at the Rockingham circuit in Northamptonshire for the championship’s annual Media Day launch.

The public will be admitted in for free from lunchtime onwards when the drivers head out on track for the first official test session of 2007.
